Join us for Part 1 of our two-part series: Building a Strong Case - Starting with the Evidence. Presented by Richard Maurice, experienced Family Law Barrister and Accredited NMAS Mediator, this session will focus on the critical role of evidence in family law proceedings, particularly in light of recent legislative reforms.
More specifically, Richard will explore key provisions of the Evidence Act 1995 (NSW) and how they apply in family law matters.
In this follow-up to our foundational session on evidence, we turn theory into practice - focusing on how to draft effective documents that strengthen your case both in Court and at mediation.
Richard Maurice, experienced family law barrister and Accredited NMAS Mediator, will guide attendees through the practical application of evidentiary principles to and how to present key court documents, including affidavits, case outlines, and mediation position papers.
The opening session of this three-part series presented by Karen Shea, seasoned Family Law Barrister and Advocacy Tutor, offers a practical refresher on the foundational “Golden Rules” of effective courtroom practice - focusing on case theory, preparation, simplicity, clarity in delivery, watching and listening, and credibility.
For the second instalment of our three-part series on Advocacy, Karen will provide practical guidance on common challenges and how to navigate them, including relevant law, risk assessment, case theory, evidence, case outlines, and oral submissions.
For the final instalment of our three-part series on Advocacy, Karen will share expert tips for presenting strong, strategic cases at final hearings in the FCFCOA, including case theory, evidence, preparing clients, case outlines (issues and findings), fundamentals of examination in chief, cross-examination and re-examination, and closing submissions.
